1) Who controls your data

SquadStats is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. Group owners may also act as independent controllers for the player and match data they collect within their groups.

2) Data we collect

• You provide: account info (email, name), group details, player & match data (lineups, scores, events, votes), and support messages.
• Automatically: device/log data (IP, browser/OS), usage events, and cookies for authentication and preferences.
• From third parties: payment metadata from Stripe (we do not store full card details).

3) How we use data (purposes & legal bases)

• Provide and operate the Service (compute stats, leaderboards, storage, security) — Contract necessity.
• Payments & subscriptions (billing, fraud prevention) — Contract necessity / Legitimate interests.
• Improve, troubleshoot, and analyse usage — Legitimate interests.
• Service communications (critical updates) — Contract necessity / Legitimate interests.
• Marketing (only if you opt in) — Consent.
• Legal compliance (tax, accounting, lawful requests) — Legal obligation.

4) Sharing your data

We share data with service providers that help run the Service, such as Stripe (payments) and Supabase (hosting/database/auth). These providers process data under contracts that protect your information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and platform integrity.

5) International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., EU/UK Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your information.

6) Retention

We keep personal data while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account or a group is removed, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period unless we must retain it by law. Aggregated or de-identified stats may be kept for analytics.

7) Your rights

Where applicable (UK/EU/EEA), you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdraw consent. Email hello@squadstats.app to exercise your rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

8) Children

The Service is not intended for users under 16. Do not register or submit personal data if you are under 16.

9) Security

We use appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (encrypted transport, access controls, least-privilege, monitoring). No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

10) Cookies

We use essential cookies for sign-in and security, and may use optional analytics cookies with your consent where required. You can manage cookies via your browser or in-app settings. Essential cookies are required for the Service to function.

11) Group visibility & user-generated data

Player names, match events, and leaderboard outputs are visible to members of your group. Group owners control who can join and what is published. Do not upload personal data about others without a lawful basis.

12) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. A new “Effective date” will be posted. Continued use means you accept the changes.
